This morning, Little Dude and I were feeding the chickens and cleaning the coop, and there was a sudden ruckus outside in the run.
I sent Little Dude out to investigate, the while he went out, the chickens came inside… and that’s when I realized… the ruckus was our rooster — singing the egg song!
Does it mean anything when he does it, or has he just heard his girlies singing it so many time he knows the words?
I’ve had roosters join in and do this as well – one or two hens will lay eggs at the same time, or sing their egg song, anyway; then the whole flock will join in – I’m not sure why they do it but it’s entertaining 🙂

I didn’t know a rooster would do that until mine did. I like their throaty baritone version. 🙂
